Great Book, Awful Movie.
It's very difficult to screw up the film by faithfully following the book which was pretty much 100% foolproof, but Francis did it by changing a lot of the basic elements in the plot.

For that theory to have any credibility you would have to convince the people on IMDB that you could read a whole book in less than a decade without any help from your day care worker.
That's never happening.
The Caretaker
good movie. never read the book.
shareGreat version of the book
shareHence my philosophy that one should always watch a movie first, then read the book. This way you get to enjoy the movie on its own terms, without comparison. Then you get to enjoy the book for all of its details and depth - and all the ways that it is different. If you read the book first and then watch the movie, the movie will never stand up by comparison.
