... I think that scene was sorta a fast-forward of time spent in the cabin waiting for spring - consuming the horse over a few weeks time ...
What I thought was a little off is when Abby went to 'check the pass' in a blizzard ... it seemed pretty obvious the weather was still extremely wintery . . .
