Character development for grownups

Madame Deneuve is at the peak of her craft in this film.

I realize most of the folks on these boards are 17 years old, but if you appreciate character development and adult interaction, this movie is fascinating.

Deneuve plays an aging alcoholic glamour girl who's been pampered by her crooked diamond-dealing husband. She never had a career or children. She drank, shopped, and was arm candy for her seedy, shyster husband. He gets busted in one of his scams and commits suicide. What's a 45-yr old former glamour girl to do? Deneuve guzzles other people's leftover wine at parties, and looks up an old paramour to fence a secret stash of diamonds her husband hid for a rainy day in the wall of their lavish, but soon to be repossessed apartment on the Place Vendome.

I found this movie mesmerizing.

Go figure, kids.

I liked this movie too, maybe because I am also a little older. The cast was great.
