Issue With The Ending Too (May Contain Spoilers)

When Clooney and Kidman finally trap the bomber in the church, they are aware that the bomb in his knapsack can be detonated via timer or instantly by the bomber. Instead of Clooney putting a bullet in the bomber's head so he and Kidman can access the bomb and deactivate it, Kidman wastes precious time in a dramatic dialogue with the bomber. If she hadn't done this, maybe the experts would have had time to arrive and avert an explosion.

The NEST team was still to far away. They realiesed he didn't have a remote control and just wanted to make a statement.

My thinking was that Kidman knew that he could blow it voluntarily via the tripwire, and if they killed him, they would also lose any chance of getting him to defuse or at least pause the timer. Once he was dead, they had no choice but to attempt it themselves. It was definitely worth trying to discover what he wanted and talk him down.
