Hey Dave,
The one memorable line in the movie was when George asks what motivates people the most. It's not respect, because it's too dependent on others. It's what they need most at the moment.
Other than that, I agree with your assessment of the movie. Forgettable, just like his other war movie, "The Monument's Men". I wanted to like that movie, but it was kind of a mess.
