Better Than Daredevil

It was better than Daredevil.

Would have been passable if not for the performance of Terry David Mulligan as the President. He brings anything down he's in. Luckily his role in Fantastic Four was minimal.

For a young kid, on a Sunday afternoon, it could be considered okay. For anyone else, a pile of rubble. I mean, von Strucker in a bow tie?

Dunno if it was better than Daredevil (I kinda liked that one) but I saw "Nick Fury" on Fox Movie Channel last weekend and I laughed my ass off. David Hasselhoff may have been able to pull off Nick's look (eye patch, stubble, cigar) but other than that this movie was an absolute howl. Hasselhoff was actually the best actor IN this movie, at least he and the chick who played Viper looked like they were having fun with it. Considering it was a made-for-TV movie I didn't expect much going into it, so I wasn't really disappointed. It was a rainy afternoon and there wasn't much else on TV at the time anyway.

reply

At least it had Optimus Prime in it...

well the guy that does his voice anyways. I knew i recognized it as soon as he spoke.

I've seen worse made for TV movies... doesn't really help this one too much.

reply

Dude I don't think Peter Cullen was in this movie...

reply

No, sorry i should have specified. Gary Chalk, did Optimus Primal (beast wars) and other transformer spinoffs from then on. He sounds alot like Peter Cullens Optimus.

Okay first off Daredevil was about a loon in a red suit who beats up the people resonsible for the death of his girl friend. Daredevil the DIRECTORS CUT with 20 minutes of additonal plot is about the comic book super hero Daredevil (Here is 1 spoiler Foggy vs. Kingpin, Go Foggy!).

An I agree the only good point about the movie are how Hasselhoff and Hess super over acted trying to make it so bad it would be good.

This was better than both versions of DD. For one thing if you ever try to get through some of the old Steranko SHIELD stuff this holds its campy Silve Age spirit really. This had no money and no one taking it seriously and was still better than anything Mark Steven Johnson has ever done, and he has money and star power to help him and it still isn't enough.

reply

Y'all are crazy. Daredevil ain't a masterpiece but it is lightyears ahead of this

reply

Why all the hating on DAREDEVIL? It was a very accurate representation of the comic book. The acting was good and the story worked well. I have yet to get through NICK FURY though. I just don't get the hatred of DAREDEVIL/Ben Affleck.

reply

Saying that the Nick Fury movie is better than Daredevil isn't saying much. Was the Nick Fury movie supposed to be a comedy?

reply

Come on, be serious. This film was hilarious due to how terrible it was. The theatricalal cut of Daredevil was a huge letdown but it was still a lot better than this if you're looking for a serious film. Okay, this may be more fun in an 'it's so bad it's good' kinda way, but as a serious adaptation you have to be joking. The director's cut of Daredevil though was infinately better than this and much, much better than the theatrical cut.

personally i think nick fury was a fun light hearted movie and i thought the directors cut Daredevil was bad@$$. i think the worst two marvel comic book movies were Fantastic Four 1 and 2

Daredevil (Director's Cut)
Punisher (Thomas Jane)
Spider 1 2 3
X-Men 1 2 3
Iron Man
Incredible Hulk
even
Ghost Rider
were all great in my opinion, Ghost Rider might have been the least great of the previous ones mentioned, but it was still Great in my opinion. I'd watch Ghost Rider over FF 1&2, Hulk (Ang Lee), Punisher (1989), any day and probably over the Captain America movie too.

Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Generation X (matthew frewer)
were pretty good if taken with grain of salt and considering they were made for TV movies with a low budget. plus it was Fox movie. that alone ment it's not going to be "big budget special effects" type. but considering what they had to work with i think it was very good in a light hearted manner.

Punisher (1989)
Captain America (1990 Direct to VHS)
were passiable

But
Fantastic Four 1 and 2. god....i not only wanted my money back..i wanted that 2 and half hours of my life back! susan strippin to be invisable?? Doc Doom becoming organic metal??? Alicia being Black? Galactus being a "Swarm" none of these things were accurate in the mainstream universe. This "ultimate crap has really put black mark on the marvel movies. If the whole movie was based on 1 universe or the other (mainstream OR ULTIMATE universe) it might work and i might give it some credit, but taking bit and pieces of both universes and combinning them is BS.

The Hulk (Ang Lee)
was also horrible pretty much overall. there was nothing good about that except the end credits.

You said you don't like when the Marvel movies combined both the mainstream comics with the Ultimates line, well, I hate to break the news to you but, Spider-Man 1-3 all took parts from both and you have those three movies listed as "GREAT" movies.

really?? are you sure about that??? cause it would be ashame for you to look stupid.

ultimate Green Goblin:
Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, is the unscrupulous CEO of Oscorp, an industrialist and scientist. He develops an experimental drug called "OZ." After witnessing Peter's spider bite and seeing the resulting effects that OZ has on him, Osborn injects OZ into his body, and is changed into an insane, powerful monster. He has a physical structure similar to the Hulk's and has the ability to generate fireball projectiles from his hands. He is a scientific genius, especially in genetics. He is killed by Carol Danvers after he requested it, due to feelings of guilt over killing his own son.

ulitmate Dr.Octopus:
Doctor Octopus, Dr. Otto Octavius, is one of Osborn's scientists and an industrial spy. He is described as "scary smart" by Harry. The four cybernetic arms he uses to manipulate hazardous matter were permanently melded to his flesh in the explosion that turns Osborn into the Green Goblin. During the Clone Saga, Doctor Octavius reveals that he played a huge role in the creation of the clones. Also during the saga, he reveals that he in fact controls metal, similar to Magneto, and does not need actual "arms," but he's gotten good at using "arms." He seems to appear more often than the other villains.

ultimate Venom:
Venom, Eddie Brock, Jr., is a university student who was Peter's childhood friend. He is the son of Peter's father's long-time collaborator on an experimental power-increasing symbiote named Venom. Eddie comes into contact with Venom and becomes a monster with similar powers.

ultimate Hobgoblin:
exposed to the OZ formula like his father, Harry Osborn became the Hobgoblin, who is orange-skinned and has the ability to produce fire. He is killed by the Green Goblin

wow journeyman1 it's too late. you look stupid. the only thing they took from ultimate spiderman to put in the movies was he was biten by a genetically altered spider instead of a radioactive one, and it was oscorp. so everything else was either created for the movie or taken from the mainstream spiderman. except for those 2 things nothing came from the Ultimate crap universe

reply

Did they both have dancing emo spiderman?

Sam Raimi should direct, not just produce.
