Isn't the conflict there still at the end? Why was everybody giving up so easily seems a little bit rushed. Like everyone was suddenly happy and was giving up their goals but things stayed basically the same.
shareYou're right in that the conflict is not resolved, what you need to realize is that's part of the message of the film. We as human beings continue our struggle with nature daily, as do the characters in this film. The ending shows us that death is part of the cycle of life and that new life springs from death, it has a cautiously optimistic ending. (All IMO of course)
shareNo, the humans and the spirits seemed to have reached a truce. The humans realized what was important to them, and it wasn't the riches of the land, and they turned on the real villains (Asano's men). Eboshi's statement seemed to suggest that the war was over by saying how the San and the wolves saved them all, and that they were going to start over and build a better town, presumably one that would not cause conflict with the forest. Both sides are getting a second chance to start over.
