This Is A Pretty Good Flick
I Saw It As A Kid It Freaked Me Out So I Bought It Cheap With low expectations for a flick that scared me when i was 8 but suprisingly this flicks good very superior to most bug movies

shareYeah, I agree -- for its genre, it's pretty good. Better than the score it usually gets here on IMDb, anyway.
That said, I'd still like to see del Toro's cut of the movie. I don't assume that a "Director's Cut" of any movie will automatically be better -- it's just that this particular one was definitely messed with by The Suits. He may not have had the credibility then, but I think del Toro has proved by now that he really knows how to structure a film and make it work.
I recently rewatched it. I think it does a good job with the material, but the whole premise is rather hard to swallow and the underground scenes seem too close to "Aliens" and "Them"
It does have a great cast for a monster bug film
Yes, did notice more than 'a bit' of "Aliens" in this, but at least there wasn't the alien scream when being shot, stabbed whatever...."Eeeeeeee!!!!" like other fims I can't place off the top of my head. Some of the simularities where so close, one could call this a remake I suppose (????)
Exploring the old NYC subway system was a draw for me....
"A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five."
Yeah this was pretty good. The sequels were pretty boring though.
