The Judas Breed have eight legs!

I noticed that the Judas Breed, as opposed to other insects, have eight legs instead of six. You'll notice it in the scene where the Judas is cut in two when they hide in the old subway car. When Manny looks at the half laying outside, there are four legs on it. And the half that is inside the subway car also has four- one pair with pincers and one pair with face plates.

I know it is possible for the Judas Breed to develope an extra set of legs, but I thought it was a bit unlikely, as all creatures that they had DNA from- cockroaches, praying mantises and termites- had six legs.

No, cockroaches have six legs, just like all insects. And when Susan told about how the Judas Breed were created by her and her team, she summed up the creatures which DNA was used to create them- termites, cockroaches and praying mantises. No spiders. Funny enough, the baby Judas found by Susan in the kids' box does have six legs. Possibly, it's some kind of evolutionary adaption.

Help! I lost some weight and I can't find it anymore!

I took it that the Bladed legs were modified pedipalps, like the scorpions pincers. rather than actual legs.

Scorpions are arachnids; not insects. They have eight legs, no antennae or wings. What was seen in the film, was either a mistake or the "legs" that were seen were actually pedipalps, as you said. But not the bladed ones; those obviously came from the mantis genes in the Judas'.

I could live with modified mouth parts... which is I guess what you're saying... but insect mouth parts, not arachnid mouth parts....
