Boom Mics in Shots...

...I saw this film in a theater when it was released, and I distinctly recall
SEVERAL shots (mostly in the dark subway/sewers) where a LARGE YELLOW boom mic was CLEARLY visible bobbing around at the top of the frame...so much so, that the audience could be heard laughing in each spot...

Does anyone know, are these shots 'in tact' on the vid or DVD releases of the film, or were they 'fixed'?

Thanks!

That's projectionist not doing his job. He must calibrate screen first.
Once i saw first 15 minutes of "War of the Worlds" with upper half of a picture in the middle of the screen. Then after intensive booing from the crowd projectionist calibrated screen to normal :)

And of course mics not on the dvd.

I also remember that. In fact it was so bad (even close to the actors heads at certain moments) I still remember the boom mic operator's name as I watched through the credits to see who did such a horrible job (it was Steve Switzer). Oddly he is not credited on IMDB for this film but he has been a boom mic operator on other films for several decades and I don't believe any others I have seen were so sloppy.

THANK YOU!!!...;)

I'm SO glad someone else was finally able to confirm this hilarious series of boom shots in this film...for AGES I've tried to tell my friends what I recalled, and NONE of them believed me ("It couldn't have been THAT bad!" "YES...it WAS...it was freakin' HILARIOUS!", etc)

Much appreciated, man...;)

Ugh, so rude. It's not the boom operator, it's the pathetic projectionist in the crappy multiplex. What an a**...passing judgment on hard and skilled workers without knowing what the hell you're talking about.

I just watched the director's cut bluray and saw absolutely no boom mics anywhere.

LOL...well, of course you didn't...;)
There is no way the film would be released to the home viewing market without that kind of thing being attended to first...

I guess my girlfriend and I (and the audience that saw the film w/ us when it first was released) are among the 'privileged' few that got to see that first 'cut' version...but I wouldn't trade that for anything, it was hysterically funny and a load of fun...;)
