I'm doing a paper on the movie, about the genetically modified bugs. can anybody tell me gene they modified? it wasnt really explained in the movie.

Well, if it wasn't explained in the movie there's really no telling what gene they modified (if that's what you meant).

It was explained but you have to listen closely to the dialect between charcaters. Their mutation was supposed to be a reaction to treatment / pesticides. The movie reflects the paranoia about modified foods etc at the time. ed- feb 2006, I guess that papers long overdue
