Really? I'm wondering how LL Cool J managed to survive in Deep Blue Sea(though Samuel L. Jackson does become lunch in this one, too)? OH! I know! They needed him alive to sing the theme song! LOL :-)
There's also one of the black kids from the bus (actor's names, anyone?) in Jeepers Creepers 2, the black kid in Mimic 2, Mario Van Peebles in Jaws 4(lousy movie but good enough if you're REALLY bored...lol), and a fw others that are wondering around my head whose names I can't think of right now. :-)
As for the black guy in question, he's Charles S. Dutton and he's been in just about everything imaginable. He's also one of my favorites among black actors. He always does an incredible job! :-)
He died a horrible death but not too bad compared to others I guess.

Jaws 4 my movie let me infrom u all. They filmed two endings to the movie. On TV to make it a happier ending u find mario in the ocean all messed up but in the actually movie he dies, he falls in jaws mouth n u never see hi again. So it got two endings to clear that up.

Yah, the black guy thing has seemed to do a reverse in recent years, and now it's becoming the black guy and the one white woman who seem to live. I think the first major film to do that was Dawn of the Dead '78.

Yes, Dutton dies in Alien 3, once again he dies fighting and talking trash to the alien while getting mauled as well! :)

They dont show it but when Ellie is in the generator romm she says "Oh, Mr. arnold" when an arm is on her shoulder. She grabs the arm only to find that Mr. Arnold is not attached to it. He unfortunatly dies and gets his arm ripped off.

But dont forget, the black guy survived (along with Kurt Russell) in the remake of "The Thing". As a matter of fact the black guy also survived in the '87 remake of "The Blob". My brothers can survive sometimes,but not often!

Hmmm not strictly true.The ending as you will know suggests that either Kurt or the other guy have become "the Thing" although it replicates any form it touches it doesn't function like it's doppelganger.Watch the ending carefully and you'll see despite being outside the black guys breath isn't visible whereas Kurt's is.I guess he does survive but not in his original human form.....or at least that's what the ending suggests to me.Also to add to the survivor list Busta Rhymes survives in Halloween too.....although i did find the whole "Myers can crush your head with his bare hands but gets his a** whooped by a karate kicking Busta" a bit hard to believe.

True the black man often dies. In fact, if a character is black and says "daaammnn" you are just waiting for the death scene. If he then says "son of a bi...'" and doesn't complete the phrase you know he's about to get it.
How about a lil originality film writer folk! I hate the cliched formula of horror flicks that if a friend in the group an't white, he ain't gonna end up right (sorry, felt the need to do a Ricky Lake like phrase there!).

ROTFLMAO!!!!! "The black guy?" That was hilarious. Taye Diggs survived the 1999 version of House on Haunted Hill, but the black guy in the sequel, Return to House on Haunted Hill, gets killed pretty gruesomely in 22 minutes. Will Smith doesn't survive all of his movies, I'm not gonna say what movies, I'm not gonna spoil that for you. But I agree, Charles S. Dutton is immensely underrated as an actor, he was incredible in Alien 3.

These movies date from more than 60 years ago up to at least 2007, and I know there are many I've left off the list that others will recall. Who says the black actor gets killed first or doesn't make it to the end of the film?! I might remember more after a few hours of sleep, as it's 4 a.m.
By the way, most of these actors are guaranteed to survive: Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Don Cheadle, Jamie Foxx, Sidney Poitier, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Samuel L. Jackson and many more I'm sure anyone could list.
Besides, why is it OK for whites, Hispanics, and others to die but not blacks? I don't understand this race issue being raised time and again because it is absolutely not true. Should sexy blonde girls protest because they have to be early victims? Not only that, they're expected to be unclothed at some time or be involved in gratuitous sex scenes. I think blondes should throw a big fit about that!
