Peter's intentions???? (spoiler)

toward the end, when peter was trapped with all those eggs and he had JUST released the gas....he was trying to make his lighter work but he couldn't get it to work, was it his intention for him to die right then and there by making himself blow up with the rest of roaches? because if he was willing to kill himself, man that guy is waaay too brave...lol beacuse i was thinking whoa!! "what are you doing? you're going to kill yourself" which i know is for a good cause but still.....way too extreme

luckily the damn lighter didn't work or else he would be dead...and he actually found another way to blow the place up!!! waay too lucky!! lol

He knew he was pretty much dead anyway, what with being in a room full of lethal six-foot tall insects, his only intention was to make sure they all died. It's only when he drops the lighter that he finds the pool of water, which is what saves him.

And yet, ironically, he's standing in the exact same position when he strikes the spark with the tool that he would have been with the lighter.
