I am sorry if this has been discussed before, but why did the Judas Bug decided to not kill Giancarlo Gianni's child? They proved that they would kill children earlier in the film. I just didn't understand why they just took him and did nothing to him? Were they planning on saving him for some late night snack or something?
My prediction, and this is just my prediction...was that the DelToro ending...was going to have the kid be a new generation of the bug. There were just too many hints to the kid at the end being connected to the bugs. There was no talk of how this kid lives with just an old man. No talk of parents. No talk of any family. Just an old man that uses him at work and cant put him in a school...probably doesnt have records on the kid.
Every time i watch it i figure the hints are there that the kid is a version of them.
"insects dont have lungs"...something genetically added the ability to have lungs. They dont just form. Genetically there was a cross with something beyond insect.
"the male would be paler and have no wings....the nest will have only one fertile male" "where the hell is the male" Dramatic music and thump "chewy! Chewy?"
I also feel the church preist plays a role.
Keep in mind they also discuss mutations and genetic evolution as being chaotic. History has shown that mutations eventually lead to different groups. Its the best way for species survival. A engineered bug, with different genetic properties from different species is then further mutated by environment. A generation of these animals is likely a six month period or less from birth to breeding. And three years thats alot of birth to breed cycles. If it crossed with an already vibrant population insect like an ant...it would easily dominate. And out of the millions of offspring the battle to survive would bring out the most powerful mutations. Anyways ill stop there.
Im convinced deltoro had his ending...focussed on the kid being not what he appeared to be.
When the male appears in the movie it seems thrown together in haste and a reshot piece.

I totally agree with that. I picked up on pretty close to that idea (until you start talking all sciency and genetics and then you lose me because I don't have a clue what your talking about there.) There are lots of hints that the kid might be the new generation. Too bad they didn't follow up with that in the other movies. reply share
That. Like what was said near the beginning, bugs don't always kill right away, sometimes they take them to a place and eat them later. Who is to say he did not escape somehow like the lead did?
