It is unusual for a horror movie to have little kids offed.....
I guess it is ok, since they were hustlers (kidding).....

Unusual but in this case I think they were going for an "eye for an eye". You kill my kids and I'll kill yours. Notice how the people in the movie are continually being boxed, caged, skewered and basically treated by the bugs in the exact manner that they treat the bugs. One of the bugs even steps on and ignores a person. I know it's because he has the scent on him, but it's almost like the bug is contemplating whether the guy is worth squashing. There is probably a social message in that, but I'm not sure exactly what, yet. I'll probably have to watch the film a couple more times before I figure it all out.
