Director's Cut missing scenes?

First of all, let me just preface this by saying that this is my favorite monster movie of all time. I love Alien(s), Jaws, The Thing, all the classics, but this is hands down my favorite and I think it is vastly underappreciated. Even if Guillermo del Toro's full vision wasn't realized, I think the sets, score, and atmosphere are great (especially the intro), the creatures disgustingly, horrifyingly, beautifully monstrous, and attention is paid to setting up actual sympathetic characters, whether by them trying to do some good for the world or sacrificing themselves to save others. I don't know, I just really love it. Even if some people do think it is just a Se7en/Alien ripoff.

Alright, now that that bit of fanboyism is out of the way, I had a question regarding the director's cut. Did anyone else notice that, despite adding in additional scenes, some were cut out? Granted, I know that the ones left out weren't essential. There was one of Remy with her bike running into a disguised Judas, one of the kids meeting the mole people, and one where, near the end with Peter, there is an up-close shot on the Judas babies (if that's what you can call them) inside the egg case, with them making inhuman noises. I think there was a line too, spoken by Leonard, about giant sewer rats, but how he hadn't seen much of them anymore (obviously having been eaten by the Judas).

It may be a little weird that I can remember all of this, but seriously, I love this movie greatly, and appreciate all the little details. So, does anybody know why these were all left out?

The ongoing WOW is happening right NOW.

Thank you for listing some of the bits that were left out of the Director's Cut. I was wondering. Good memory!

I've done some reading on the Director's Cut and if what I'm reading is to be believed, the studio wanted more jump scares (fakeouts) and Guillermo didn't. He wanted more sustained tension and character progression.

In the end the studio won, but Guillermo took the boo! moments out of the Director's Cut.

I haven't seen the Director's Cut yet (intend to soon), but it's a pity you can't have both as I like the boo! moments too.

I'm totally in love with Mimic too - dunno why it has such a bad rep.

Never seen the theatrical cut. Would've been cool to see the babies in the cases. But the Rat dialogue is still in the director's cut :)
