Great Music!!!

One thing about Clint Eastwood movies, there is always good background music. Especially liked the Johnny Mercer rendition of Skylark.

What are you gonna do? Kill me? Every body Dies. John Garfield (Body and Soul)

I enjoyed the book and couldn't really "get" the movie. I watched it when it first came out and just watched it again to see if it had improved. It hadn't.

The Johnny Mercer songs were the best part of the movie. I thought Clint had something to do with a documentary on Mercer a few years ago but I couldn't find it on IMDB. Does anyone else remember?

I finally found it. It's called Johnny Mercer: The Dream's on Me. It is a wonderful documentary. What a revelation it is to hear and see all these beautiful poetic songs that Johnny Mercer wrote lyrics for! This is a great part of Clint Eastwood's legacy: that he would showcase a talent that not everyone knows about today.

I think you mean the K.D. Lang version of the Johnny Mercer song Skylark. Mercer (and Hoagy Carmichael) wrote the song.

Ephemeron.

yes, to be clear, it is the k.d. lang version of the johnny mercer song, skylark. I do agree it is a great song; i haven't forgotten it years later after hearing it for the first time while seeing this movie.
