Why no DVD

Ok didn't this movie come out in 97'. The wait for this movie to come out on DVD is madness. It makes no sense, but I'm some what glade I'm not the only one who thinks this is stupid. I mean VHS tapes don't last long, so in other words a DVD has to come out soon.

Is there someone that we can contact possibly? Like whatever company released it? Maybe do one of those online petition things... maybe then they'd see that it'd be worth the money to put it on DVD. I'd definately buy it the day it comes out.

i think they may bring it out only on blu-ray and hddvd when these come out later in the year becuase a well over due for a rerelease this would be a good thing for them to do

reply

huh?Well I watched the movie and I want it desperately bad, just ask anyone who knows me!I'd pay 50$ bucks for it if I had to!Well my point is that if any of you find out that it is coming out on DVD please tell me my e-mail is [email protected] and I REALLY NEED TO KNOW!and why hasn't it come out on DVD anyways?

What's blu-ray , can you play it in the computer or dvd player or vcr? and if its in hd on dvd would normal tv's and dvd players still be able to use it?

reply

Blu-ray and HD-DVD are two new types of discs that are being used to put movies out on. Both have more space and have the ability for better quality of sound and picture than current DVDs do. Neither of them are compatible with your computer or DVD player, although Blu-ray and HD-DVD players can play DVDs (also know as being "backwards-compatable".

Normal TVs should be able to use it, but you won't notice any difference.

I own the VHS and watched it religiously back when I first got it, and I would too like to see it on DVD because I would purchase it, most likely, along with Captain Simian and the Space Monkey's complete series DVD (yet to be released as well)

Hi,

I saw this movie some time ago on tv. Now I'm wondering too, that this fantastic movie doesn't come out on dvd...

What it really comes down to is the production company asking themselves one question: "is it worth our time and money to produce a DVD for this movie?"

Unfortunately, this movie bombed at the box office and wasn't a profit for anyone, especially the companies involved. They probably won't make a DVD for this movie because statistically speaking, no one will buy it. People generally regard this movie as "not good" so its doubtful we'll ever see a DVD for this one.

I'm disappointed as well because I liked this movie and would enjoy owning it on DVD. VHS copies are hard to come by too...

Transfering a VHS copy to DVD will not produce DVD quality, nor will it give us Special Features and extras and whatnot like a studio-produced DVD would. Sure, we'd have a physical DVD to have it on, but its not the same thing.

you know pioneer75 your right about that they wouldn't make a dvd of it which sucks insanly bad cuz i love vincent kartheiser and i saw the trailer for this and i really want to see it but vhs sucks and id really love to have it on dvd because dvd is so much better than vhs and my big screen has a dvd player so yeah but yeah they more than likely never put out a dvd or any other thingy cuz big companies are all about making money but im still gonna buy the video of it because its awesome lol

I have it on VHS, I'm actually watching it right now (hence why I came here). My friend has a DVD recorder and possibly one of these days I'll get him to record it to DVD if I feel I need to actually save some of these films. So far I only have two films that have no DVD release (this and The Jerky Boys Movie). I like Masterminds (although there are better films like Toy Soldiers in this kind of vein) and I enjoy The Jerky Boys movie for a good laugh, would I put them on DVD though? At this juncture no, but if I really want to keep them around and I feel they're getting older/more useless I just may.

What's strange is that I just saw an HD version of this on Starz the other day, which probably means it's been remastered. You would think that if a studio took the time to remaster a movie, they'd release it on DVD.

I should know. I'm from the future.

reply

I just saw the HD version too in letterbox format on Movieplex this afternoon. why remaster it if it's not on DVD or Blu-Ray. I also don't see it on Netflix, or popcorn time.

reply

I just found a "dvdrip" of it on a torrent site, i'll have to download it an see how it turns out
