let me ask your opinion of the cheeseburger joke

In the scene where Ian,Sarah and Nick were hanging in the traitor over the cliff and Eddie came to the rescue and he asked "who's hurts what do you need"? Ian reply "we need rope" Eddie went "Rope! What anything else"? Ian Sarah and Nick reply "Yeah three double cheeseburgers went everything" "No onions on mine" "And a apple turnover"

I remember everyone in the theater laughed I did as well if I recall but looking back on it the last thing anyone would be thinking in a traitor that is hanging over a cliff is cheeseburgers it just now that I have watch the film again I started to see the joke in a different I know it was to break the tension.

I like your opinions and also what in the universe is a apple turnover?

I think it was more a case of them being facetious. That they had to ask for a rope first of all and then Eddie asking if they need anything else makes him look like a bit of a dope. An apple turnover is applesauce enclosed in puff pastry. Just type it into Google.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!

Thank you it just as a kid I always wonder what a apple turnover was I always consider it something else but now that I know it's a sauce I feel better now.

Yes you're right they were perhaps trying to keep calm and most people would have some kind of psychological feeling in a case like they were in

It's not a sauce, it's a folded flakey pastry filled with baked apples.

Ian and Nick's replies were funny, but Sarah's apple turnover quip made the whole thing corny.

An apple turnover is pretty much an apple poptart.

As someone else mentioned, it was them sarcastically showing their impatience at Eddie. It's obvious what they really need is rope and pronto, not anything else as he'd offered.

Yeah a rope is the most important thing when you're in a trailer that is hanging over a cliff after being attack by two Tyrannosaurus Rex I'm just saying the cheeseburger idea would be the last thing on my mind in this mess

I always thought it was somewhat of a tie-in to the Burger King promotion of TLW, but I could be wrong

Never know since Burger King did play a part in the promotion for The Lost World I still remember the watches which were pretty cool.

Sarah Harding annoyed the crap out of me throughout this film and I was upset that she didn't die. Which probably made my hatred for this snippet even greater. Ian and Nick had already made the cheeseburger joke and it was fine, it didn't need expanding on. Then she had to have the last word with the unfunny inclusion of apple turnover.

Applesauce? Apple pop tart? I am shocked at how many here don't know what an apple turnover is. They're quite delicious, you know.

I never heard of Apple turnover until this movie came out because as a kid the idea never came to me, but I will consider giving them a world

Possibly places that have strudel, dainties, phyllos, patisseries, tarts, etc? Definitely anywhere outside Earth orbit.

I always hated that bit. Eddie was trying to help & their sarcasm wasted precious seconds. Eddie might not have died if they'd focused on quick survival skills instead of intellectual elitism.
