Eddie's death always bothered me...
The most likeable character and most gruesome death. Caused by the antics of the idiots Sarah and Nick, who I wished both would have died terrible deaths.

shareAntics? They were helping save the baby after the hunters injured it in their selfish attempt to capture Daddy T-Rex?
shareYes, the OP is right. Antics. Once they freed the dinosaurs they should have left well alone instead of interfering and trying to play nurse to a baby T-Rex. I care about animals but I prioritise human-lives and their foolishness ended up getting Eddie killed.
shareWell, I'd consider it "antics" given the setting. A child is on the island, her father that she relies on is also there. Bringing the injured infant of a gigantic carnivore into the living quarters of said child is one of those scenarios that common sense & self-preservation should kick in & direct one's actions. "I feel bad for this baby, but the lives of my human companions are more inportant".
shareIt was gruesome but on top of that, he was bravely trying to save his friends. Sometimes characters have it coming, but Eddie went out heroically and that makes it a bit more tragic to me.
shareThe film has quite a misanthropic tone doesn't it? Burke seemed like a decent guy as well and he bit it nastily. Poor guys.
shareBurke was set up as a strawman scientist who incorrectly countered Sarah's theories and was quite willing to work with the greedy dinosaur hunters, so I don't feel quite so bad for him.
Apart from Eddie I feel bad for the guy who gets mauled by the T-Rex whilst trying to escape via the video store.
Ironically that guy (video store guy) is played by David Koepp, who was the writer for this movie. So maybe he actually deserved it the most?
share
Yeah, I remember reading that somewhere.
You're right but only if Koepp is playing himself, and he's living in some 'Purple Rose of Cairo'/'Last Action Hero' type world where he is writing the action we see onscreen.

The thing that bothered me the most about Eddie's death was that when I saw it in the theater, some people actually laughed. It was a scene that definitely was not being played for laughs.
About the bloody jacket, Sarah should have known better, but so should their great white hunter who wanted to kill the "buck." I couldn't believe it when his reaction to seeing the blood trail on the leaves was just to check if Sarah were injured.
Semper Contendere Propter Amoram et Formam
He wanted to kill the buck. Instead of going back to their call, he simply modified his plan: he would let them come to him again.
shareI've always felt the same way. When he asked them if they needed anything else [apart from a rope] and they mockingly said 'cheeseburgers' or whatever, he should have ditched their asses and made his way back to the tree.
He saved their lives but neither Sarah or Nick seemed grateful.
I thought that was a brilliant scene, the fact that he was the most likeable and that he died valiantly trying to save the others in such a horrifying way really made it such a scary scene. Problem was none of the other characters gave a crap that he died trying to save them, except for one comment by Malcolm. And it was just another thing that made the rest of the characters a bunch of a-holes that I couldnt care less if they got eaten or not.
People are crazy and times are strange
At least it looked like he died quickly (I'd say he died once the Rexes ripped him in two)
Her death was nowhere near as gruesome looking to the audience as Eddie's but at least it didn't look like he was swallowed while he was still alive like the English lady in Jurassic World.
It looks like most of the deaths caused by large carnivores in the JP movies were pretty quick, the ones caused by smaller carnivores looked like they had a longer death, like for example Muldoon when he was killed by Clever Girl
Sarah was also a bit of a nitwit when she left a trail of blood along the way.
shareI always hated his death scene too. I also hated Muldoon's and Zara's
You want tah fack wit me? You ah fACKING choiah boi compahed tu me ah choiah boi
MAYBE A SPOOILER!
Richard Schiff who played Eddie, was also in "Man Of Steel" 2013. Where his character faces almost the same fate as Eddie.
