rabid dog?
what happened to the dog trent beat to death? did it have rabies? or did trent just wanna kill it?
shareI'm pretty sure the dog didn't have rabies, it was just trained to be aggressive and was really wound up.
When they were chasing it, Trent hit it with the truck. Whether or not this was on purpose was debatable, but I think it was intentional for a few reasons.
1. To get back at the dog's owner for the altercations they had earlier in the film
2. The dog was trained to be aggressive towards people, as is shown when it attacks Trent, growls at Devon, etc. The dog was acting pretty wild and would probably have attacked anyone who tried to get close to him right then.
3. Trent's (lack of) reaction to hitting the dog.
4. When Devon runs away after seeing Trent kill the dog, we see animal bones tied to a gate, which, when added to the empty dog house, suggests that this isn't Trent's first time killing a dog (no matter the reason).
Even if Trent didn't mean to hit the dog, it was injured badly enough that it was going to suffer a slow painful death. Trent put it out of its misery.
