I have a confession to make - I snuck in to see this movie in 1997, and I was terribly unhappy that I did not have any basis to demand my money back. It was that bad.

reply

I've seen worse

reply

It certainly wasn't that bad.

reply

It was pretty bad. It wasn't very Kull like, Sorbo was a bad bad choice.. They should have just threw this into an extra long "special" episode of Hercules The Legendary Journeys.. This is a major dissapointment to any fan of Robert E Howard and Conan.

reply

A real Kull? was there a book or something? if so, i'd like to read it. Or was he a charictor on Conan? please explain caus i have no idea what your talkin bout, but would in fact like to.

reply

Kull was one of the several characters written by Robert E Howard, who also wrote Conan. Im not sure if any of the Kull material is in print, so it might be easier to try ebay or abebooks.com and look up Kull by Robert E Howard. There are a few older editions, like the Baen edition which is pretty nice. I would suggest reading all the materal by Howard, and ignoring any Conan novels written by anyone else, because they just ruined the mythos.

Man, I'm there with Bryanthemadposter: This film is on right now on ITV(UK). It's like watching motorway pile-up; I can barely tear my gaze away! This is SO bad! When affronted by films of this caliber, one is forced to ask the following questions: a)Who the hell 'green-lighted' this cr*p?(I want his/her name!), b)At which precise point did the production team think 'It's too late to stop this'? and c) If the money put into this abomination of celluloid was given to a third-world country, how many lives would it save?

I think it would of so much better if Sam Raimi was involved.

reply

Or perhaps if they altered storyline, actors, script... Come to think of it, what about everything?! Especially the AWFUL score. Once I'd tuned in (god I wish I hadnt!) and heard that trashy "rock" music blaring, a sense of impending doom struck into my very bones. Down with Kull the Conqueror! The only saving grace was the adverts in between (Hehe, watched this on ITV as well!).

I thought the was pretty ok, its just the script and the directing, let down the movie.

Although I do like this movie as it is I must agree that it would have been better if Sam Raimi had been involved but that's true or any movie.

Yes, but you see: fans of Robert E. Howard tend to treat his stuff as if it were Nobel-prize material. And really, it just isn't - and the fact that they keep insisting it were, doesn't help Howard, but actually harms them. It's kitsch as kitsch can - and every attempt to treat it in a too serious a manner ended up in ridicule in the long run. Just take a look at Arnie's Conan-movies; they've aged terribly.

In this respect Kull fared much, much better.

This movie is good fantasy/action -chances are if you don't like it then you don't like fantasy/action, I was waiting for this one to come to the local town theater which never happened, but fortunately got the dvd.

I have just watched this movie on ITV4. It's not the best film I have seen, but it was good fun and I enjoyed it.

Well, you don't seem to have much strength to think, either. So why would some more lack of strength in other fields matter?
