Haven't seen this in over 10 years

Seriously the last time I saw it was in theaters when i was 14. My older sister picked on me to no end for seeing this but with how bad movies have been lately I look back on this movie and realize that its not that bad at all. I would really like to see it again and possibly buy it.

You don't know appaling until you've seen movies that are made by a company called asylum.

Amazingly enough, after having seen Conan recently, I realised that Kull is far better than I thought. It certainly aged a hell of a lot better.

reply

How do you figure? It's a trainwreck of a movie filled with insipid acting, poor CGI, and one of the worst soundtracks in cinema history.

reply

Well, Tia Carrere is goddamn' awful and Karina Lombard slightly wooden, but other than that I don't quite see many flaws in the acting.

CGI is, rather than poor, simply mostly not there that much. That helps with the 'aging well'-factor.

The e-guitars are a pain and ruin the soundtrack, but then again: poor soundtrack never really killed a movie. Ask John Williams.

reply

You obviously missed the parts featuring Kevin Sorbo and Harvey Fierstein if you didn't see any problems with the acting beyond Carrere and Lombard.

You really don't want to go down that road with me, believe me.

reply

I'm not sure what you mean, but all right...

I'm shocked at the horrible sub-Dolf Lundgren 4.4 score this film has.
But then I just checked Scorpion King and its rating is a mere 5.3 (Lundgren territory).
Conan the Barbarian at 6.8.
Conan the Destroyer at 5.4 (Lundgren territory again).

I suppose there is no justice for films like this.

And on the other hand...Red Sonja is 4.3. And it truly is an awful fantasy genre film. There's no sense of scale there.
