Suddenly Preston says something about a guy who entered Canada with another name and must be the jackal or something like that. My question is how they went close to locate the jackal? They didn't have any clues.

It amazes me that you remember the scene at its end, but not its beggining : He says that they identified a person that travelled to Finland a couple of days before Terek's meeting with "The Jackal" -a person that was supposedly an innmate at some mental institution at the US- and that the same person flew back to Canada some days later...
