Opening scene beyond belief
Why would you storm a murderer's lair with troops and then spend the next 90 seconds discussing the arrest, the evidence, and the personalities involved with the perp while he sits there next to his two armed thugs, as if it is a social call? Hard to view the film after this bit of business.
Fred Zinneman's Day of the Jackal was an intelligently conceived thriller. Too bad it has to be associated with this kind of baby food.
