Bloody brilliant soundtrack.

Who agrees?

I mean, from the opening credits track onwards, I was like "Yeah!"

It's got a great score, I really want to find it.

I especially liked the opening theme, it was awesome and really sets the mood for the film.

Bruce Willis was excellent in this movie, without Bruce the movie was a pretty average run of the mill cliche ridden action/thriller but Bruce bought it to above average viewing especially with that scene with Jack Black and test firing the gatling gun, the arm getting blown off was full on.

7/10.

By score, I assume you mean the original music composed for the film? The songs didnt do much for the film, but the actual Carter Burwell score is great. It never got an official release but someone bootlegged it. I have a copy.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE JACKAL MUSIC !!

the background tune , especially during the failed assassination scene

An ancient race... as Charles Bronson put it.

Yeah! I mean sure, some tracks like Apollo 13, Predator, BTTF, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Jurassic Park - by famous film composers are much more "memorable" as far as people humming film scores etc.

But this score REALLY matched the film so perfectly. It basically can't stand on it's own. It is too fitting within the walls of the movie. I like that fact.

And the Massive Attack songs being used before they began being sampled to death in movies and TV with "angel" is neat.

Every set piece of the score is like a moment I sit and go "I love the way this score makes me feel while im seeing this *whatever*". It might seem like that is pulling a person out of the movie, but the score instead is DRIVING and pulling you INTO the movie.

There's a theme in the soundtrack (the actual soundtrack - not a song) that is so reminiscent of another soundtrack theme. I cannot place it, and I'm wracking my brain. The other movie has to do with a guy who is a loaner, is traveling, and may be an assassin or agent or something. Any ideas?

The score was solid for sure. What has happened to movie scores? Nothing good or memorable anymore.

Lovely work by Carter Burwell; very Barryesque, too. Eight unreleased cues are available for streaming in Burwell's website (http://www.carterburwell.com/projects/Jackal.shtml). Some of those are not available in any bootleg releases, AFAIK. My favorite is "Hospital Aftermath"; great rendition of the main theme.

Of course, Massive Attack's opening theme is terrific, as well, and brilliantly juxtaposed with the anthem at the very beginning.

Love it! I'm listening to it on YouTube right now. Carter Burwell is truly a brilliant and very underrated composer.

Just had another massive day of appreciating this score!!

It sucks so bad there is not an official release. His (Carter B.) music both fit the movie, and elevates it apart from itself and anything in the 90's.

About the only comparison in uniqueness for thriller/action is Eric Serra' composing style in Fifth Element and Goldeneye.
