Gere's idea of acting
In the scene, where Sidney Poitier said that now he realizes that the Jackal is using the FBI code, look at Richard Gere's reaction. He meant "oh no!" or "damn!" something of that sort, so in response he jerks down his body and makes a sound and gesture like sneezing, TWO TIMES! Jesus! I truly thought he actually sneezed two times, but he wasn't, it's his idea of acting in the "Oh, Damn!" moments. This guy has no clue what acting industry means. He either sleeps through his movies, or makes nonsense "sneezing" gesture.
