The only things that make you gay..

The only things that make someone gay is the romantic and sexual preference of members of the same sex.

This movie tried to validate gender stereotyping.
This is actually a movie about a guy who was so dumb, that he was conned into believing that he was gay, because he liked show tunes.
This movie promotes superstitions about homosexuality and gender stereotyping.

There are heterosexual men who have had their careers destroyed because of gender stereotyping. If you don't appear macho or happen to be short, you are labelled gay and harrassed until you quit or they make up an excuse to fire you. It may interest you to know that the federal government receives more complaints about homophobic harrassment of heterosexual men, then complaints about harrassment of gays.

I worked 17 years at a company and spent many of those years being harrassed and persecuted because of gender stereotyping. The people I worked with, new I was having sex with women, but still dedicated their lives to getting me out of the workplace because of their insane homophobia. Every day for years there was open hostility at work. The harrassment got so bad that even the managers openly took part in and promoted the homophobic harrassment.
State and federal laws prohibit such conduct, but the government never does anything about it. I was told that I had no proof and that no proof was possible. No judge is willing to act against such conduct because they are afraid of getting the reputation of approving homosexuality.

We live in a country of ignorance, prejudice and insane homophobic superstition. Even those who are not gay are not safe. I've lived in poverty since my severence ran out. Went bankrupt and lost my house in 2002 and even spent some time homeless. In today's econemy there is no chance of me ever recovering from this.

This movie is a virus that perpetuates and feeds the superstition. Right now it is being run and rerun on the THIS network.

Too much, too soon, too long, too strong, too many,
to fix.

I'm watching it again right now. I hadn't seen it in years. I was just thinking the same thing you were saying about gender stereotyping.

I was just having a conversation about that same thing with one of my sons the other day. I don't buy into gender stereotypes.

I'm a straight woman. I don't like shopping, or getting my hair or nails done, I don't like make-up or lots of jewelry. I can dress up when the occasion calls for it, but I'm most comfortable in jeans or sweats. I'd rather watch Terminator or Jaws than the latest romantic comedy. I love to run and workout. I'd rather be strong than skinny any day.

I don't understand a society that thinks you have to behave a certain way, dress a certain way, talk a certain way, like certain
things, and dislike certain things - all based on whether you're male or female.

Well, that and the fact that he would barely touch his fiancé of three years and really had no interest in having sex with her.

Sister, when I've raised hell, you'll know it!
