Ending sucked

I'm Gay! I'm Gay! I'm Gay! I'm Gay! I'm Gay! I'm Gay!....

Why? It was their way of showing support for him. Not likely in small town America, but it was nice.

Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it.

reply

I agree that they were all simply showing support for him. I also that such support is sadly unlikely in small town America.

I think this whole movie sucked. Who cares if Howard is gay or not? I know a gay teacher who taught in a high school in NJ and nobody cared.

reply

I agree with you, but this was nearly 20 yrs ago in a small Midwest town. Totally different set of "values" there...and a lot of hypocrisy.

reply

Glad you agreed with me. I think this was overrated sitcom crap.

This movie was made 2 years after "To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar", in which all these small town folks stand up for the three drag queens (at the end) and proclaim "I'm a drag queen!" to the belligerent police officer. Sorry, but the use of the "I'm GAY!" is old hat and schmaltzy to boot. Just goes to show how unoriginal Hollywood can be!

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

reply

And that wasn't a very good movie either.

reply

No, it really wasn't.

reply

The very, very end, with Bob Newhart looking over his shoulder, was uproarious.
