Would be a PERFECT stage play

As I was watching this the other day, I realized that this movie would be the perfect basis for a stage play! The scenes wouldn't be hard to set, props would be nothing outrageous and there is lots of room for creative freedom and improv. I could really see our local community theaters here producing it, not to mention it kicking butt on Broadway.

Anyone agree/disagree?

It would! This would really work very well on the stage! I never would have thought of it. Well done.
Actually, and don't hate me for saying this, I could see it as a musical. Now we'll see if that strikes up on conversation. Heh.

I could definitely see this movie turned into a Broadway musical.

They could do a muciscal and use songs from Barbra Streisand films... like maybe "No matter What Happens" from "Yentl"... in that film, Yentl poses as a boy and gets married to a girl who's totally clueless as to her "husband"'s true identity---the eye make up and French tipped nails aren't enough of a hint. And, in that scene, Streisand realizes that the way her wife looks at her, she can never look at her "that way" because they both like guys... and, I think my brain hurts...

Any ideas on who would cast as Howard in a Broadway musical version of IN & OUT?

David Hyde Pierce, Hugh Jackman, or Niel Patrick harris

I actually have adapted the script into a play. My local thatre company is going to perform and I'm going to (try) direct them. It was pretty funny adapting the script. The atrezzo is no complicated and it opens a lot for improvisation. We start rehearsals next week... May the force be with us :P
