No. It's about people taking who they think they love for granted, and instead giving in to their own ridiculous and useless ambitions. It's one of the most thematically powerful films I've ever seen.

Maybe I need to watch it agsin 20 years later now that I am older. I thought it was gross and depressing. Maybe I was supposed to?
