Herc's Family

Hi everyone!
Well, I've always been wondering how Herc's (true) family members were related to each other - I'm talking about the Disney version, not mythology here.

Some things are obvious - like Hera and Zeus being his parents, Hades and Poseidon being his uncles on his father's side... but it seems even the Disney wikia can't really decide about most of the other gods.

For example, the wikia lists Ares, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hephaestus (and Nemesis! o.o') as Hercules' older siblings. AND it also lists HERMES as a son of Hera and Zeus - that would make him Herc's older brother as well. BUT in the animated series there's one episode in which Hermes is referred to as Herc's uncle... that would mean he'd have to be Hera's brother. Personally, I'd really rather go with the idea that he is another brother, but the whole family tree is rather confusing.

Can anyone confirm any of the Disney family relation here? Was there, for example, any deleted scenes material about it?? I'm really curious now^^

I don't know anything about the Disney version but I just looked it up and Hermes is the son of Zeus and somebody else so I'd go with that Hermes is Hercules' brother instead of uncle.

According to Hesiod' s Theogony, Aphrodite was created from Uranus' dismembered genitals.... which would make her Zeus' great-aunt and Heracles' great-great aunt.

Actually, that would make her Zeus's aunt and Hercules's great-aunt. But there is also another version of Aphrodite's origins, where she happens to be the daughter of Zeus and an otherwise unknown goddess named Dione.

Ares, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hepheastus, Hermes and Dionysus were all Zeus's kids by different women in the old mythology. So that would make them Hercules's older siblings, yes. But the Disney version is vague about how the gods are related, as they didn't want to go into how Zeus couldn't keep it inside his toga.
