Someone explain the rate card scam, please.

Could someone explain what John does to scam all that money in the beginning, when he gets the rate card and keep cycling around. I couldn't get it!

reply

he doesn't keep the money. it just makes the people think he's putting money in the casino. what he does is puts 150 on the card, spend a few bucks gets $100 bill back he hasn't spent. takes that 100 and gets tokens again, in turn they put it on the rate card. he's still only spent the 150, but the rate card shows 250, he keeps doing this till he's tired. casino's track these cards and give free hotel rooms and tickets etc to big spenders.

reply

Casinos used to keep track like this, now everything is pretty much electronic, swipe your card at the slot machines, or they watch your bets at the table games. This ploy to get extra points wouldnt work anymore, at least not in the bigger markets, Vegas, AC, Tunica, etc.

EXACTLY.IT'S KINDA LIKE THE OLD TAPE DOLLAR THING IN THE SODA AND VENDING MACHINES.FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS IT WAS A SCAM PEOPLE USED TO DO TO NOT ONLY GET FREE SODA AND SNACKS,BUT THEY ALSO WOULD GET THE CHANGE AS WELL.NOW THE MACHINES HAVE SENSORS ON THEM.
