I found the scene where the guy who was beat up on the bed, a little over dramatic. I thought they were making a mountain out of a mole hill. So the guy had sex with Clementine, didn't pay, and got a slap, so what? I'm sure he wouldn't have gone to the cops anyway. That's the best they could come up with to keep the story going?

The guy's head was badly bleeding, he was knocked unconscious, and they called his wife asking for a ransom. Aggravated kidnapping coupled with extortion is much more than "a little slap".
