Great list... I could not agree more with most of your selections... Grace and the Storm in particular is an incredible story... an amazing look at the counter-culture lifestyle from the perspective of an intriguing character, the New York City career drug dealer.

heres a couple of others off the top of my head:

Spun
Friday
Drugstore Cowboy
Killing Zoe
Basketball Diaries
Less Than Zero
Blow
Pulp Fiction
Gia

Nobody seems to list it, "Ball in the House." Movies like this are okay if you don't glorify the drugs. This one definitely doesn't, if you think it does than you need help.

In any case, see it, also, "The Basketball Diaries," Will illustrate the downward spiral. Again, I do not glorify the drug culture, and do not recomend these movies to aid in the glorification of it.

By the way, I could never seem to get all the way through, "Easy Rider," does anything ever happen in the movie? Or is the whole thing just the same as the first 30 minutes, not insulting it, just wondering.

How do you define DRUG CULTURE movies>

You mean just a movie which has a scene or two revolved around drugs. Or a whole movie that revolves around that matter.

In my opinion if i understand you right.

Pulp Fiction or Scarface

New Jack City, Scarface and Gridlock'd are my favourite 3

reply

"Pinero" is a really good one....Benjamin Bratt doing surprisingly well.

reply

Requiem for a dream, Gridlock'd, Pulp Fiction and Scarface are one of my favorites in this category.

reply

Trainspotting - the most authentic one I have seen. Gridlock'd is a jewel too, while Requem is an overrated fairy tale of drugs.

reply

i would also add traffic to the list.

Pusher Trilogy
Fear and Loathing
Easy Rider
The Trip
Split (89)
Monterey Pop
Fritz the Cat
A Scanner Darkly
Alice in Wonderland
Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels

In no order, off the top of my head.

Harold and Kumar Go to Whitecastle (stoner comedy)

Honorable Mention: Idle Hands (stoner comedy featuring seth green)

reply

Sid and Nancy is absolutely brilliant, I don't think there's ever been a better actor than Gary Oldman, he transforms into characters so brilliantly, Sid Vicious being no exception.

reply

a couple more i'd throw in would be Bad Lieutenant and Carindiru. they're both kind of about drugs as well as other things (The Lieutenant and the prison respectively)

Requiem for a Dream is crap

this have to be an april fool's joke.

You mean...aside from the guy who listed Friday in this thread 7 years ago?

I am Jack's IMDb post.

'Enter the Void' is a good one.

It's not a mainstream movie, but covers drugs, out-of-body experiences, and death. Some scenes would probably cause a lot of controversy, especially for religious people. I highly recommend it, but it's not a party movie. Best to watch it alone. Some scenes are disturbing, and some very sad.

Gridlock'd is my favorite Tupac film.
