Why change some names but keep others???
I'm just wondering why they would keep names like Joe and Estella, but change others, like Pip and Miss Havisham? WTF? Is there a reason for any of this?

shareI dunno, maybe eathan would be cool with a name like pip
shareBecause Pip just sounds lame. :0 Actually I always wondered too why they kept any the same, but Pip to Finn...good change.
shareAt that point, why have the movie called Great Expectations? Wouldn't the movie get more credit for what it did if it had seemed that it wasn't done by Charles Dickens? The copyright might be gone and his heirs might not be able to sue for infringement.
shareAccording to the writer of the screenplay, Mitch Glazer:
Careful not to aim for a literal remake of Dickens' novel, Glazer altered the names of characters, except for 'Estella' for which he claims there is no match. "Dickens' 'Magwitch' and 'Miss Havisham' seemed too spectacular, almost untouchable to my ear," he insists. "I thought a modern equivalent would give us more freedom."

This also explains the theme of the color green. Yes, I quite like this movie.
