This is by far the best movie I have ever seen. I could watch it every single day and not get sick of it. The cinematography, the directing, the acting, the soundtrack, the plot, the obsession, the desire. It is just perfect. The "Kissing in the Rain" scene may be the best scene ever put on film. At least I think so. I loved this movie the first time I saw it in the theater and I still love it today.
Woody Allen may be a perv, but I can't help it, I love him.
Yeah, it's one of Ethan Hawke's top five performances. Estella was horrible, but Gwyneth Paltrow's always good! Touching, rightly said. I wonder why his movies are so touching. Love this actor!
You need to watch it again I guess. It's not like that. The script was done like that and there's a lot of action-oriented stuff in this movie. In Gattaca, his dream is to go into Space. In Great Expectations, his dream IS Estella. He is just chasing his dreams in both movies. I guess you do not like Gattaca either.
I am not just action-oriented. I do not like the development of their romance, I guess. I understand, if somebody is completely fallen in Love. That could happen to everybody. But in my opinion, there is no reason to act the way like he did. So weak and poor of mental ability. With a lack of confidence.
And on the other side, an older woman and her daughter - always kidding him, finally.
I cannot find a reason to love this romance because it wasn´t a romance.
Like I said before, you need to watch it again. If you cannot find a reason to do so, then get over it. I love Great Expectations and I watch it over and over again. The reason why I love it is because I can actually relate to it. The script, you know. Read the book as well if you haven't as yet. Girls are like that, you know snobbish. It's a perfect movie. Finn's fallen for her, and SHE MAKES him come after her. I have been in love with a girl, and just recently she has married someone else. Here I stand and face the rain! I regret not going after her the way Finn went after Estella. At least he tried, what the hell if Estella wasn't meant for her. Man, this is called 'trying'. You can't have everything at your feet without moving around and actually earning it yourself! I mean how can you deny the infamous sex scene? Estella says: 'I want you inside me' and the wonderful soundtrack, Tori Amos esp'. This film even got me into Tori Amos. The kissing in the rain scene, how do you deny that! This is romance, are you blind now? I mean this film is full of romance, you name it. But you know, in the end it's the woman who will always betray you. The lesson is, do not fall in love.
