Ethical & Theological question: Should Vincent ever have a child?
well should he?
it would mean passing on his flawed genes in an ever increasing superior world

Couldnt he have a kid through eugenics that erased those risks, the same way that his parents did to have his brother? He wouldnt be any worse off than his parents.
shareTheological question? I guess the theological answer would be that whatever you try to control the situation, only God decides which genes will be passed on. So good luck with that.
A lack of genetic diversity brings down the robustness of a population of the species, and hence reduces the chances of survival of the species in case of sudden environmental changes.

A simple example to illustrate the idea: if, say, a sudden climate change forces a tribe to switch from deer-hunting to fishing, but the tribe had throughout the years selected only right-handed children who would excel at spear-throwing and had always killed off all left-handed/ambidextrous children who wouldn't be good at spear-throwing but who would have excelled at a two-handed job like angling, then the tribe might not survive.
A society should embrace the genetic diversity that it can sustain.

The theological question is usually if you should try to control the situation and not that you can't. If you can't then it's not question.
shareSure, but does the OP know that?
