The movie itself can't decide exactly what she is trying to become.

I love certain aspects of this movie, the training, the instructors, so I am not trying to bash it.

Having watched it again last night statements indeed are made from the Navy brass about whether she will complete the SEAL training. Not CRT training but SEAL training.

How can people then not be confused about exactly what she is trying to become?

Maybe because I have not been military that I don't understand this one thing. If you are already Marine Recon, Army Ranger, Navy Seal, etc you have already made it into some very special ranks.

I don't think you can get much higher than what you already are. The CRT program in this movie seems to be more generalized type training, in trying to become less specialized don't you then become less of an expert at anything?

On that mission at the end they seemed to be acting as Navy Seals, they came in from the ocean to extract that Army team.

Again, what's really the point of trying to prove yourself to the Spec Op community when you have already proven yourself?

Now, if you were a Navy Seal and became fascinated by say the Army Rangers and then decided to try to become one then fine. If you made it then your knowledge of both would be of great benefit.

In that case you are moving from being one type of specialist to another type of specialist, as opposed to becoming more of a generalist.

She was already Naval Intelligence and seemed to be the tops at what she did, I would guess that's a difficult program to get into as well. I have my doubts about whether CMC Urgayle and the instructors could have made it into that program.

Serving your country is finding what you are good at or at least decent at and then doing the best you can at whatever position you find yourself in.
