Only a 7.2 rating?
Criminally low in my opinion. This movie easily deserves to be in the top 250. What's not to like?

Actually a 7.2 is a bit high, if not excessive. 12 years after, people are still wondering why this movie has grown to become a blockbuster and I have to agree! It's jolly and all but there's no more to it than that.
Saying it should be in the top 250 though - now that is absurd.
+1 to your -1 :)
The film is good and entertaining and that's pretty much it. It has a good story and is yet another good English comedy, but it's not that great an achievement in cinematography, directing or acting, so as to be in the top 250.
To light a candle is to cast a shadow...
i completely agree. FM, is utterly timeless, and has a charm that ensues you watch it again and again still enjoying it.
it should easily be in top 250, possibly top 100.
a gem that will be watched 4 years and years to come.
I completely disagree.
The film showcase sub-sitcom humour and parades the mediocrity of the majorit of the British film industry around as if it's something to be proud of.
There's no scope, the story is very 'bare-bones' and personally, I didn't empaphise with any of the characters at all.
Really? Worst film you ever saw? Well, my next one will be better. Hello? Hello?share
I thought it was a 7. A solid, enjoyable, well made British comedy, but not a classic that I would consider.
shareHalo is 100% correct. A solid 7, humorous and a great watch, not a classic.
shareWell, ok, it might be 7 (although I'd say 8, I absolutely love it), but then - crap like Avatar that doesn't deserve more than 4 is #64 and that's frustrating. But oh well, people are idiots, show them same story all over again, add some 3d and they love it... *sigh*
shareThis is one of my favourite British comedies (I'm not British btw). Definately underrated.
I think this is a much better film than the (in my opinion) very overrated 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Shaun of the dead' for example. It has great dialogue, good acting, very likable characters and a lot of heart. It's funny as hell as well, but not over the top like the other two.
This movie is a classic, one of my two favorite comedies of all time (the other being "Some Like It Hot." 9/10
That just goes to show you. You go someplace and there you are.
It's more of timeless rather than a classic. I'll never get tired of watching it. I don't know what 'empaphise' is but I think the characters are people anyone can relate to.
shareI agree, it's ridiculously low! I think this is one of the best British films ever made.I no longer pay much attention to the imdb ratings as I feel they too often favour certain types of films.
