Probably Seagal's last great movie
Very underrated film and in my opinion Seagal's last great flick. Never got into his films from the 2000's. The only films I watch of him are his first 8 or 9.

shareI pretty much agree with this. Not only that, but it is definitely his one greatest movie of all. Harry Dean Stanton's part is also wonderful. Levon Helm is great. And the vignettes of the miners' lives in the end credits are deeply touching. Great music. Seagal's musical performances and Stanton's great rendition of Kentucky Waltz at the end are excellent.
shareGlad you agree. The still shots in the opening and end credits were a great little piece of history to look at and the music added to it. Thought I was the only one who felt that way. I was never able to finish The Patriot which he made a year after this film. From what I saw of it, it didn't have the same impact of his earlier films and I ended up being put off from finishing the rest of the movie as well as watching anything he made after that. A majority of his films from the 2000's were movies that were straight-to-video flops and it just wasn't the same.

certainly one of seagal's best i never thought about him prior to under siege, but my then girlfriend was crazy about him and i ended up watching a lot, this was good
shareI would only add "Exit Wounds" from 2001 as an exception that proves the rule, otherwise I agree with you about his movies.
shareI've enjoyed this movie a lot over the years. Every five minutes he's kicking somebody's ass.
How can you not enjoy it.

When we're thinking about our own brain, would that be a mental paradox??
Totally agree with you: In my opinion this is A 'different' kind of Seagal film; more depth, character development, slower paced, a country-film, but still with plenty of action; one of my personal favorites. Seagal composed most of the music; the songs are very good and poignant. Underrated Seagal film and his last good movie: 2 1/2 out of 4 stars.
