Disappointed, yet surprised that it was decent

Watched this last night expecting a straight-forward serial killer movie based upon the Time Warner Cable description for the film. With just 2.5 stars, I was hoping I'd at least find it suspenseful and like it.

The description gave no indication of the "supernatural" aspect of this film, but I stuck with it and liked it except for the "been there done that" John Goodman appearance. Seems like movies love to have him so they can have him sing some 1960s tunes. I gave it 6 stars, would have been 7 if someone else had Goodman's part. Don't get me wrong, I like John Goodman, but not in this role.

Are you saying that you would have been more pleased with a straight-forward serial killer movie? (That didn't have John Goodman)

I didn't like the Godfather, so what?

Yeah, basically. I mean, a straight-forward Serial Killer movie WITH Goodman would likely have been OK if his role was not off-the-wall like in this film and/or not the stereo-typical Goodman role like he was in Flight (the always singing really hip dude).

Basically I am saying that I ended up liking the film although it was what I was expecting and I did not like the last scenes with Goodman's character.

It's similar to what I was expecting with Independence Day in the 90s or whenever it was when that came out. The first trailer I saw I was psyched as it looked like a serious film of an alien invasion. Obviously it was not a serious film but was great in its' own right and I enjoyed it a lot.

It would'a been a much better ending too though if Azazel just died. So basically Azazel's practically immortal then? If he's killed in the middle of nowhere and there's no cats around he can just possess a bird or a cockroach or some s@*t??

Lucca Brasi sleeps with the fishes!!!
