What was the point of Revelation 18:2?

And he called out with a mighty voice,

“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
She has become a dwelling place for demons,
a haunt for every unclean spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.

It's the clue that tells us that Azazel can possess animals. But Hobbs still didn't realize that there was a cat around and it seemed to come out of nowhere. Animals tend to scatter at the sound of gunshots and I don't know if cats are known to be scavengers.

The first time Hobbs goes to the cabin you can see something (most probably the cat?) going into the basement.

The cat lives there, you see him when Hobbs drive up to the cabin the first time. So had Hobbs only "opened his eyes" he would have know. Azazel kept giving him clues, but he didn't see them.
