It's the clue that tells us that Azazel can possess animals. But Hobbs still didn't realize that there was a cat around and it seemed to come out of nowhere. Animals tend to scatter at the sound of gunshots and I don't know if cats are known to be scavengers.
shareThe first time Hobbs goes to the cabin you can see something (most probably the cat?) going into the basement.
