They should reboot or make a sequel
I grew up up watching this and with all the recent remakes and reboots like jusge dredd, total recall, this one should also be on the list...
shareThis was my favourite action film for years. The weekend I rented it I must have watched it at least 6 times and then when I taped it off the TV I would watch it 2-3 times a week for months.
But I don't see why it should be remade, and a sequel would be in name only so why bother?
The action scenes were practical and still stand out. Most studios would opt for CGI to cut costs and the result might look good if they use state of the art CGI, but won't hold up 5 years later. It's just the nature of the beast.
As for the characters, I feel the story of juxtaposing two polar opposites was done remarkable well here. Sure you could find a script, actors and a director that could top it, but it's incredibly unlikely.
