"When I get out of here, I'm going to get you fired"

Did he?

reply

Don't think he needs to, Burke Hicks and the other prisoners already killed him.

Somehow he got to the lower level after getting beat up by dubov in the electroshock room. Then he gets beat up again. He never died.

reply

It's left up to speculation however those prisoners were the worst of the worst, the prison guard was notorious for giving them electroshock treatment, I think the prisoners were pissed off enough at him to kill him and they had the perfect opportunity. All they had to do was kick him in the head enough times with those metal boots and that would be enough, plus what do they have to lose? They are already lifers.

Speculation is not confirmation.

reply

It's really not too big of a stretch to assume they killed him. I mean these terrorists who had no problem murdering innocent people had the guy who had subjected them frequently to electro-shock treatment. Do you really think they are going to let him live?

I never really got why he is made out to be a bad guy. Apparently prison wardens should be kind and nice to mass-murdering terrorists who fire sniper rifles into playgrounds.

Yeah, I love the actor too. He was great in Fargo ans Shutter Island. Kinda a hard guy to hate.

reply

He's made out to be the bad guy because it is a challenge that our hero must overcome.

reply

He'd be a bad guy if he was sympathetic to Castor Troy, not because he's mean to him.

reply

He's not a villain but for that part of the story he was an antagonist.

reply

Yeah I get that, but the warden is being cruel to his son's murderer. You'd think Archer would have him promoted if anything.

The playground shooting would have been worldwide news at the time, he might have been so appalled by it he has been itching for the day when he can have the killer under his thumb.

reply

Seriously why the hell didn't they tell the warden?

The problem with your theory is he didn't just target troy, he actually punished troy for not MURDERING a retarded man who at that time wasn't able to defend himself. The prison guard was a criminal, we're given no reason to believe sean would like criminals who target other criminals if that was the case he would like troy who's plot was to murder the competition (every other major criminal).

You've got a point there. The warden pounced on Troy when he backed down from a fight, not necessarily for being a murderous scumbag.
