Why did they keep Castor Troy alive?

After they took Castor's face off to put on Sean's body, they no longer needed to keep Castor alive. In fact, Sean thought Castor was dead and was shocked to see that they were still keeping him alive.

At the very least they could've lobotomized Castor so that if he had ever gotten out of the coma (which he did) he would basically be brain dead.

If they didn't keep him alive they wouldn't have been able to take his face off. The tissue would have died. Lobotomizing him would have been a good idea or better yet someone should have been watching him during the night or better yet just f-cking handcuff him to the bed.

So why didn't they kill him after they took his face off? He was supposed to be dead anyway.

He was in a coma (a turnip!) . The doctor's weren't murderers, just face-borrowers
