Most stupid film ever

Ridiculous, absurd,etc...

reply

I'm not sure what your point is.

The film asks a lot in the way of the suspension of disbelief but it rewards its audience with two very fun, heartfelt performances and several good action scenes. Since calling a film "stupid" would be taken the same way as calling a film "bad", a lot of people refrain from calling this film stupid or from calling it stupid without at least clarifying that it's also good.

It was a great Woo film. The Replacement Killer might be slightly higher on my ranking than this, but barely.
I never understand people who go into a Woo film looking for anything but some cool action and doves. When any more is delivered(like in both aforementioned films), I am quite pleased.

The Killer raised those expectations in my eyes. Woo's symbolism, like the doves in The Killer, just seemed forced in his Hollywood movies. I remember seeing F/O in the theaters and when the doves were flying the audience actually laughed/groaned. As much of a fanboy of JW's that I am, I couldn't help but agree with that sentiment. Although I was respectful and just rolled my eyes. I love Woo's HK films, but the best JW Hollywood movie was directed by Antoine Fuqua. Face/Off was just over the top cheese. Honestly I'm glad Woo isn't doing Hollywood anymore. He is the round peg being pounded into the square holes that is Hollywood produced movies. I just watched this movie again on Netflix. Hoping i originally disliked it because it wasn't up to the standards I remember from The Killer, Hard Boiled or A Better Tomorrow. Nope it is just not that entertaining of a movie. My god was it boring! More bullets and less pathos. This was more a vehicle to see which actor could be more over the top. Travolta or Cage.

Believe me the_la_baker when I say if you enjoyed this movie then good. I mean no disrespect to your opinion with my slightly salty rebuke.

How dare you! This is one of the best action films ever made.

Herbert West: Who's going to believe a talking head? Get a job in a sideshow.

reply

Exactly. Absolutely BAFFLING it is rated this high, especially by critics. Although, I don't agree it's THE worst ever, but other than the story itself, it's close.

reply

Btw, the most absurd part of all is that they would have chosen his method over another. lmao. Yeah there sure would be no other choice than put someone's face on.

I could literally give 75-100 examples of absurdity and screw-ups in this movie, but it's not worth the brain energy to remember them all.

Ridiculous, absurd and what? Did you get stumped or do you not have to brain capacity to go into further detail?
