Farley's death before release
i didn't see this movie in theaters because i was only about 10 when it came out, but for those of you who did was it weird watching a movie with farley in it knowing he was dead way before the movie came out?

shareIt really made it a great way to go out for Chris. After I got out of the theater, I just thought to myself that this was the perfect way for him to go out of films. It was appropriate in every aspect. The egg scene was divine haha.
shareIt was kinda weird, especially cuz like a few weeks later "Dirty Work" came out which Farley was also in. I kinda kept hoping a few more movies with Farley in them would keep coming out. Didn't the same thing happen with John Candy? Canadian Bacon and Wagons East both came out in theaters after he died.
shareThat egg scene is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I laughed so hard the first time I saw it I fell off my couch.
shareI was 13 years old when he died, and I loved Chris Farley. I saw all of his movies (except for Beverly Hills Ninja) in the theaters. I turned 14 just before this movie came out, my brother and I made it a mission to see his final film in the theater. I have always loved this movie, I remember renting it many times after it came out on VHS.
shareI feel like a lot of people felt weird seeing the movie not too long after Chris' death, which is what made it a flop. The acting isn't that great but it's still one of my favorites, I can get past it.

That's why I am watching it at this very moment. I just finished reading "The Chris Farley Show", and I wanted to go back and watch this again now, knowing what I now know about what was going on in his life at the time. It adds a new perspective.
shareI was 12 when he died and too depressed to see it at the time.
I just saw it for the first time in full last week and I laughed pretty hard. The movie is full of flaws, but Chris Farley and the others do crank out a few laughs.
One great part was, "Don't you know any other Goddamn tune!"
Just reread Chris Farley Show. brings tears to my eyes man. CF was good soul, man
sharedear shortiensd.. any movie u see...it has a release date on it....this does not mean it was stopped filming at that exact date or time....FOR EXAMPLE THE MOVIE STARTED SHOOTING ON JANUARY 15 1997...AND STOPPED FILMING ON SEPTEMBER 15 1997, THE MOVIE DID NOT COME OUT FOR VIEW UNTIL JANUARY 1999. That SAYINg...movies take atleast 5 to 6 months to come out bfore they hit the screen for EDITING, Sound, and EFFECTS......THEY DDO NOTTT COMMMEE OUT RIGHT AFTER THEY ARE DONE>>>>>THEY TAKE LONG TIMES
shareI read all these posts...I really wasn't gonna say anything, but Kenzie...what does any of that have to do with what was said?
OP said Farley was dead before it was released...and he was... So, I don't know why you're yelling. lol
"Will, I told you...If you live with a hetero long enough...You're going to catch it."
There is no way it took 9 months to shoot this movie. Rarely do smaller movies take that long. Big special effects movies and big budget movies can take that long for principal photography, but that's incredibly long. Also the movie came out in January 1998 not 1999. And it doesn't always take months to edit. Usually it does, but there have been plenty of movies that were in post production for a little over a month before it's theatrical release. It is possible.
Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!
While kenzie's post has no relevance really, I couldn't help but also go "WTF" when thinking it took 9 months to film this movie? If it did... they must of had to stall because of either Farley or Perry rehab stints? hah
Not even big budget CGI films take 9 months to film... they take like 3 months to film, then spend a full year in post-production editing and implementing the CGI, and then maybe go back and shoot for another 2-4 weeks to get some shots they missed, scenes missed, etc.
9 months is unheard of (accept for the mega-blockbusters of old like "The Bridge Over The River Kwai" and "Spartacus"... epic scale, no CGI so hundreds if not thousands of extra's, 3+hour films, originally 5+hour cuts... filmed in several locations, etc.
I don't understand what took 9 months to film this script.... then it took another 16 months until they released it? 16 months to edit this film? yikes...
I love it though, absurdly stupid humor and Farley go hand in hand, and when you realize this film is meant to be just that, stupid, funny, and over-the-top, you'll love it. In my top 10 for "movies that make me laugh the most out loud", and I'm not even sure why, it's not the best made film.
Notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn’t have f’ed with? That’s me.
I don't think it took 16 months to edit the film, it was more than likely shelved for a while for one reason or another. Perhaps the studio didn't feel it do well and the shelved it, it happens. When Farley died they probably felt they could cash in on his death by releasing his "final film".
Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!
You have no control over that. Bruce Lee died before the greatest martial arts movie EVER was released, Enter the Dragon. I'm sure it's happened that way to others too.
Too bad because this was Farley's funniest movie!
He died 2 days before my 13th birthday, I will never forget :( No it wasn't weird it just sucked and made me miss him. Also he had a cameo in Dirty Work that was filmed after Almost Heroes I believe. I love this movie it is nostalgia I never get sick of it, waiting on a bluray release!!!!!
