What was the significance of the matchbook?

What was with the matchbook Sonny gives Lefty just before the boat scene?

reply

It was a King's Court matchbox, from the club Lefty was trying to open without Sonny knowing. That was Sonny's way of telling Lefty he knew what they were up to.

reply

Didnt even catch that! Nice.

Cancer of the prick!!!!

How did Sonny find out about Kings Court.....

reply

I don't recall it being explained though I think the most likely source would be Trafficante or one of his operatives.

"He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator."

reply

That's a fullgazy.

reply

I assumed he had someone follow him. He was already suspicious when Sonny pulled Johnny Depp aside at the candy machine. "Where were you two? What do you have going on?" Depp refused to tell him out of loyalty to Pacino, which made Sonny even more suspicious. I assumed he had them followed after that.

reply

Then why didn't they kill them for holding out on the club?

They whacked the other guy for holding out on the coke deal in Miami?

Flaw?

reply

Because of the situation. They might have done right and given Sonny his cut. The bar did not open until the night they all got arrested. With the drugs, the guy already had the drugs and was making money off of them. He never kicked the money up.

In the bar case, there was no money to kick up yet. Now.. had the bar been opened already and Sonny had not seen moeny from it yet, it would have been a different story. Bosses did not always know about schemes until they were already committed--- sometimes jobs were a matter of opportunity.. sometimes the payouts varied greatly from what was expected... and sometimes it was just better if the boss found out after--- plausible deniability.

The worst he could get charged with would be accessory after the fact.

So he could smoke his cigarettes
