This offbeat Alan J. Pakula film about the complications associated with the Irish Republican Army (IRA) is entertaining and well-crafted for American audiences.
I thought the opening was really strong, but then the film digressed into a verbose and long saga about Pitt's character wandering around America searching for IRA contraband weapons while engaging in a love affair and debating with an Irish-American police officer (Ford's character) about the nuances of reactionary terrorism and crime in Northern Ireland.
Overall, the photography and soundtrack are well put-together and you get a nice sense of the American view on populism menus.
I would give it at least 2 out of 5 stars.
Cheers,
